Training “Managing the challenges of growth of small and medium enterprises”

On June 14-15, 2016 Armenian Institute of Directors, Corporate Governance Center and International Finance Corporation (IFC) jointly held the training “Managing the challenges of growth of small and medium enterprises”.

The training materials were developed based on IFC methodology. The aim of the training was to increase awareness of corporate governance principles and their practical application among SMEs. The main objectives of the training were to:
1) Explain what SME governance is, and how it supports competitive survival and growth.
2) Help SMEs to assess their governance system.
3) Provide entrepreneurs with practical guidance and tools to identify the priority governance changes most beneficial for their companies.

The training was designed for SMEs that are not beginners and have operated for some time, that are sure they have growth potential and seeks means providing business stability, continuous growth and development.
Representatives of over 20 organizations participated in the training.
The training was conducted by experts of Armenian Institute of Directors and Corporate Governance Center, as well as invited expert Alexey Volynets (IFC office in Washington).

Forum “Corporate Governance issues and challenges in the Republic of Armenia”

On April 14, 2016 Faculty of Law of French University in Armenia, within the Senghor International Network of Chairs of the Francophonie, with cooperation of Central Bank of Armenia, Corporate Governance Center, TK Equity Partners Law Firm and Concern Dialog Law Firm held the forum «Corporate Governance issues and challenges in the Republic of Armenia». Thierry Favario(Professor at Jean Moulin University Lyon III of France), Misak Babajanyan and Aleksandr Khachaturyan (TK Equity Partners Law Firm), Narine Melikyan (Corporate Governance Center), Aharon Chilingaryan (Armenian Institute of Directors) and Tahmina Nurova (International Finance Corporation)delivered a speech at the forum. In their speeches the speakers addressed corporate governance issues in banks and family businesses, role of the board and its independent members, role of lawyers and international financial institutions in corporate governance.

Professors and students of French University in Armenia, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, American University of Armenia, as well as representatives of Central Bank of Armenia, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Courts of general jurisdiction of administrative districts of Yerevan and regions, Armenia’s banks, credit organizations, fund managers, law firms, joint stock companies and private persons participated in the forum.

Workshop “Corporate Secretary in companies’ corporate governance system”, 2016

On March 22-24, 2016 Armenian Institute of Directors jointly with the Corporate Governance Center held regular workshop “Corporate Secretary in companies’ corporate governance system”, the aim of which was to develop theoretical and practical knowledge of corporate governance specialists’ in activities of corporate secretary, as well as to inform them about modern trends in corporate governance.

Specialized workshop “Corporate secretary in the company’s corporate governance system”

On May 20-22, 2015 Armenian Institute of Directors in cooperation with the Corporate Governance Center held regular specialized workshop “The Corporate Secretary in companies’ corporate governance system”, the aim of which was to equip corporate governance specialists’ with theoretical and practical knowledge on the activities of corporate secretary as well as to inform them on modern trends in corporate governance.

Representatives about 20 companies from different fields of Armenian economy participated in the workshop.
